Actress Urmila is alleged to have behaved rudely with the festival organisers of a temple where she had accompanied her daughter Uthara Unni for the latter’s dance programme.

The incident happened at Kollam Thrikkadavur Mahadeva temple on Thursday, the seventh day of the festival.

Urmila had started addressing the audience before the dance programme began but suddenly the mic stopped working. This irritated the actress, who threw away the mic and started speaking without mic.

The mic operators and temple authorities protested against this behaviour . Light And Sound Welfare Association of Kerala State secretary Ragam Radhakrishnan reacted to the incident and shared videos and pictures.

“By throwing down the mic, Urmila has insulted our bread. If Chilanka is important for her, for us, the mic is important,” Radhakrishan said.

Urmila’s offensive reaction irked festival organisers and viewers. As people also started getting restless and commotion from the audience began, police were called in.

Urmila agreed before the police that she had thrown the mic. She also asked the police whether it was a big crime. Taken aback by this question, the SI quipped: Is this not your means of living?

Later, Uthara’s dance programme started after the issue was settled.

Ten minutes after this, there was rain and the viewers left the place.

Meanwhile, Ragam Radhakrishnan said that if Urmila didn’t apologise, the mic operators would boycott their future programmes in Kerala.
