KOTTAYAM: As part of the preventive measures against Corona (Covid 19), the district administration has placed restrictions on functions at religious institutions in the Kottayam district.

Seven in the Isolation ward of Medical College is under observation. The body fluids from three persons with Covid 19 symptoms have been sent for lab test.

The district collector has declared holiday for all educational institutions in Kottayam on Tuesday. Restrictions have also been placed for school anniversaries at Pathanamthitta district.

It has been decided to cancel Omallur Vayal Vanibham and temple festivals. Instructions have been given to avoid Annadhanam and mass feast. There are also directions to keep the number of participants at public events to a minimum. There are instruction to stop taking bath in mosques, as well.

Meanwhile, three suspected persons have been shifted to the Isolation ward of the district hospital. Seven more persons will be shifted to the Isolation ward as symptoms started appearing in them.

Two old persons have been shifted to Kottayam Medical College from Pathanamthitta general hospital.

Those who are under observation in houses are being examined by health volunteers at regular intervals. District courts have also avoided sittings till March 13.
