THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of the spread of coronavirus, the state government has decided to cancel all public programmes. The government has announced holidays for classes up to seventh standard. The holidays are applicable for anganwadis also. Meantime, there will be no change in exams for classes from eighth, ninth, tenth and plus two. The decision was taken at the emergency cabinet meet convened here today. The government has called for heightened vigil in the state. Directions have been given to cut short festivals and celebrations. The chief minister will address the media later today.
Meantime, a two-year-old child found with symptoms of the virus has been shifted to the isolation ward in Pathanamthitta. With this, the number of people with symptoms of the virus under observation has risen to 150. However, collector P B Noohu said there was no need of concern in Pathanamthitta. The youth who fled from the hospital while under observation has been brought back to the hospital. A total of 1116 are under surveillance in the state.
