KOCHI: An American couple who fled from Alappuzha Medical College with symptoms of coronavirus, were tracked down at the Nedumbassery airport and placed under isolation.

The US citizens based in London, left the hospital without informing the doctors. They came with some symptoms of the virus and were asked to conduct the tests for COVID-19. They were tracked down late last night at the Kochi International airport and were put under isolation. Three more people, including an Italian national, tested positive for coronavirus in Thiruvananthapuram taking the total count of patients in the state under treatment to 19.

An Italian was tested positive and is kept in isolation at the resort where he is staying. The other person is a UK-returnee and is in the isolation ward at the medical college hospital. The third is from Vellanadu in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Alappuzha district administration has put out a detailed flow-chart with exact date, time and location of the two Indian returnees who have tested positive, so people can help with further contact tracing.
