KOTTAYAM: The police Sunday stopped a KSRTC carrying foreigners for not following the directions of the health department in the wake of the spread of coronavirus. The bus was stopped at Kuravilangad in the district. Officials of the health department later inspected the bus. The foreigners were blocked for surpassing the ban from using public transport.

A man and a woman from Spain were subjected for an examination at Kuravilangad taluk hospital. Though they were released for not showing any symptoms, they were shifted to the isolation ward in Pala General Hospital due to lack of accommodation in the present situation. The two who reached Kerala on March 6 stayed in Ettumanoor the other day.

Meantime, Tea County Resort in Munnar where the UK national stayed has been closed. Tourists will not be permitted until further warning. Employees of the resort who looked after the tourists have gone home after showing some symptoms. They said neither masks nor sanitizers are available.
