KOCHI: Dosa, sambar and egg in the morning, rice, thoran and fish fry in the afternoon and for foreigners toasted bread and cheese-these are the menu for the patients at the isolation ward of a government hospital. Not only food a newspaper is also given to read. This sumptuous menu is given at the Kalamassery Medical College in Ernakulam. District information officer has released a press release on it.
A good meal and the convenience of reading a newspaper have been arranged at the Kalamassery Medical College Hospital for those at the isolation ward estranged from their closed ones. The menu has been set like giving tea as soon as they wake up in the morning and Keralites favourite fish fry, dosa and sambar and juice to brave the scorching heat.
Items like fruits and eggs have also been included in the menu. Toasted bread along with omelette and soup have been given for foreigners. The new menu is prepared as per the directive of Dr Thomas Mathew, principal of the college, with the aim of serving nutritious food as there are no food restrictions. Menu for children include milk and snacks.
There are special facilities to store all these. The menu was prepared by a team led by COVID 19 nodal officer Dr Fathahudeen, assistant nodal officer Dr Ganesh Mohan, food in charge Dr Deepa and senior nurse Amritha after consulting with those in the isolation wards. The food is prepared by medical college students union. A decision has been taken to prepare food for thirty people.

12 noon- Chappathi, rice, thoran, curry, fish fry, curd and a litre of water
3.30 PM-Tea, biscuit, pazham pori, vada
