THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Beverages Corporation has come out with instructions for its customers in the wake of spread of Corona disease. Those who come to buy liquor should come when there is no crowd or long queues at the outlets. Buyers should avoid gathering near the outlets after they have bought the liquor.

Those who have diseases like fever or cold should avoid coming to buy the liquor, says the circular issued by the Bevco.

Though the Opposition had demanded the shutting down of Bevco outlets, the government didn’t take any decision in this regard. Meanwhile, Industries minister E P Jayarajan said the government would discuss and take a decision on whether to close the Beverages outlets or not.

“The beverages would prevent people from coming in groups to buy liquor. All should observe personal hygiene,” he said. Excise Minister T P Ramakrishnan said, “under the present circumstances, there is no need to shut liquor shops and if necessary, more outlets will be opened in order to avoid rush”.

He added that the Bevco has already taken up the precautionary measures for Bevco staff. By the way, Lahari Nirmjana Samithi has filed a petition in the high court, seeking to order closure of liquor shops under the current alarming situation created by the pandemic.
