THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the outbreak of the novel coronavirus has led to a dip in passenger footfalls in trains, the Indian Railways has decided to cancel four special trains from Chennai to Kerala. The cancelled trains are Chennai Central- Thiruvananthapuram AC Express (22207), Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Central Express (22208) and Velankanni Ernakulam Special (06015, 06016).
The Thiruvananthapuram Central-Chennai Central AC Express (22208) will not function on March 22, 25, 29, and April 1. The services of Chennai Central- Thiruvananthapuram AC Express (22207) have been cancelled for March 20, 24, 27 and 31. Meanwhile, the service of Velankanni Ernakulam Special (06015) on March 21 and its return service (06016) on March 22 have also been completely cancelled. Earlier, the Central Railways had cancelled around 23 trains due to coronavirus fears.
