THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have filed cases against temples and mosques, which had violated government instructions and conducted mass prayers and festivals.

The cases have been registered for conducting procession and temple festivals, at Malayinkeezhu, Anchal, Kuravilangadu and Vellayani police stations.

A case was filed against Vellayani temple festival committee members for violating orders of the district collector. Meanwhile, police arrested 12 office bearers of Malayinkeezhu temple.
Earlier itself, the police had filed a case against holding Arattu procession in violation of restrictions. The case was filed as per IPC and Disaster Management Act.

Cases were also registered at Olloor, Vythiri, Kalpetta and Neeleswaram stations for holding mass prayers in churches and mosques.

Altogether, eight cases were registered in Kerala on Saturday in this connection.
