THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Number of positive coronavirus cases in the state made a significant jump on Friday, with 39 more persons confirmed with the diseases. Among these, 34 are from Kasaragod alone with one case each in Kannur, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kollam, CM Pinarayi Vijayan told the media here.
112 persons were admitted to hospitals on Friday alone. The CM said the situation is serious and should be ready to face anything.
In Kasaragod alone, 80 persons have tested positive for coronavirus so far. The CM said the people confirmed with the disease also came in contact with many others and have traveled to places. He repeated that people with the disease should strictly stay in quarantine. Those with throat pain, fever, and difficulty breathing should connect with hospitals.
CM Vijayan also pointed out that Karnataka is closing roads by creating blockades with sand, which is against the directives of the centre. Due to this, even patients are not able to go to hospitals in Karnataka. The government will discuss this with Karnataka, he said.
Kannur Medical College will be made into COVID hospital, he said.
COVID-19 patient from Idukki came in contact with many and visited places like secretariat and legislative assembly building. A public activist shouldn't act like this, CM said.
The permission to do the rapid COVID test and to use medicine from Cuba will be sought. Kasaragod Central University will be made into a primary health centre, CM Vijayan said.
People will be allowed to go out by giving an affidavit. But if a person doesn't comply with it, there will be stringent actions. The date to pay fees at schools will be extended. Gold loan auction will be stopped, the CM said.
The closure of bars and beverages have created a grave crisis. Those with chronic alcoholism will be treated. De-addiction centres will be strengthened.
In Kerala, a total of 1,10,299 are under observation with 616 persons in hospitals. Out of 5679 samples sent for testing 4448 have returned negative, the CM said.
The CM also said that even stray dogs are left hungry on roads after lockdown, which could make them act violently. A system will be brought to feed them, he said.
