KASARGOD: The lockdown has claimed one more life in Kerala. An 80-year-old woman died after the ambulance carrying her was blocked by the Karnataka police on the Kasargod- Thalappady border. She has been identified as Pathunji, native of Bantwal. The woman was staying with her son in Kasargod. Her son tried to shift her to Manguluru as her condition was very serious.
The Karnataka police stopped the vehicle on the Thalappady border when they were on their way to Manguluru. They returned home and admitted her in a hospital in Kasargod where she breathed her last. Minister E Chandrasekharan and Rajmohan Unnithan MP criticised the act of the Karnataka police. The minister requested the centre to intervene on the issue.
There has been widespread protests for not giving permission for ambulances to go to Manguluru. This is the second death that happened without getting treatment on the Karnataka border. Abdul Hamid, 60, of Kunjathur in Manjeshwar, died in a similar manner the other day. The minister asked the Karnataka government to show concern on sick patients.
