food-grains

THIRUVANANTAHPURAM: Food and Civil Supplies Minister P Thilothaman said that a kit of food grains will be distributed to 87 lakh families through 1600 outlets of the state. Addressing the media, he said steps to procure grains required for three months have started.

Distribution of free ration will start from April 1st onwards. 15 kilos of free food grains should be bought before April 20. After that steps needed to bring food grains promised by the centre will be taken. Ration will be distributed to priority groups in the morning and to non-priority groups in the afternoon.

The chief minister had earlier mentioned that ration will be distributed to those who do not have a ration card also. A senior member of the family must give an affidavit in this case. Their aadhar number and phone number should be registered. Meantime, he added that those who do not need the kit can return it to the government.

Only five people should be seen in front of the ration shop. They should keep a distance physically. They should be assisted by volunteers or representatives of the people. Arrangements will be made to send the items to the homes of those who cannot come to buy rations.
