THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that in the present situation in Kerala, it is not sure whether the treasury will have enough money to pay the salary of April. In case of spread of coronavirus, the lockdown is till April 14. The money set aside for relief work cannot be taken for the salary, he said.
The state as well as the country are facing an unprecedented crisis. All sources of income including tax have been closed. In this case to overcome the financial crisis government employees and teachers need to contribute a month's salary and it will be collected in instalments, he said. Meantime, UDF organisations demanded that one-month salary should not be imposed on everyone and an opportunity should be given to them to contribute as much as they can.
The ruling organizations directed that those giving a month’s salary will be collected in instalments. The chief minister told the organisational leaders that major expenses will be there for the government and the health sector for the prevention work of corona and will face a huge financial burden to provide free ration and kits to all.
