THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday announced that 7 more persons have tested positive for coronavirus in the state. Out of these, two are from Thiruvananthapuram, two are from Kasargod, while one each are from Kannur, Kollam and Thrissur districts. The number of people undergoing treatment for coronavirus has reached 215.

Meanwhile, two persons each from Pathanamthitta and Kannur have tested negative, the CM said. At present 1,63,129 people are kept under observation. While 1.62.471 people are under home quarantine, 658 people have been admitted to hospitals. 150 people have been newly admitted to various hospitals across the state. 7485 samples have been sent for medical tests and 6381 have returned negative. Addressing a press meet in Thiruvananthapuram, the chief minister said that a special action plan will be introduced in Kasargod.

Distribution of free ration will begin in the state on Wednesday, he added. Arrangements will be made to avoid rush in the ration stores. Only five persons will be allowed in a store at a time. While holders of ration cards ending with numbers 0 and 1 can get ration on Wednesday, holders of cards ending with numbers 2 and 3 can get the ration on Thursday. Those holding ration cards ending with 4 and 5 can get ration on Friday and those holding ration cards ending with numbers 6 and 7 can collect ration on Saturday. The distribution of free ration is expected to be completed by 5 days, the CM added.
