PATNA: Several states are in the race to search for participants of a religious gathering in Delhi's Nizamuddin currently linked to nearly 400 COVID-19 positive cases across the country. Bihar in its search for the participants has stumbled upon 70 foreign preachers who were living in various parts of the state anonymously. They were not part of the Markaz Nizamuddin gathering, but these preachers are feared to be in the high COVID-19 risk category because of their extensive travel history.
Almost 9,000 people, including 1,300 foreigners, have been linked to the Tablighi Jamaat event, which has emerged as India's biggest hotspot in the coronavirus pandemic. 86 of these are believed to be from Bihar.
So far, twenty-three coronavirus cases have been reported from Bihar, with one death.
