SASTHAMKOTTA: A team of health officials were attacked by a group of locals in Sasthamkotta after the officials questioned a birthday party held in the locality. Following this, three locals were arrested by a team lead by Sasthamkotta CI.

The health officials reached the area after they were informed that a birthday party is being held at 'Faisal Niwas' in Ashwathymukku near Bharanikkavu by violating lockdown restrictions. The party was attended by guests from Pathanamthitta as well. Once the officials began questioning about the party, the locals started attacking them. The arrested have been identified as Faisal, his brother Afsal and Sharafuddeen. It was a Panchayat member who informed the officials about the party.

According to police, the accused began attacking the health officials as the officials continued to inquire about the guests from Pathanamthitta. The accused even went on to break the windows and damaged a car in order to put the blame on the health officials.

Despite, continuous pressurisation from several party leaders, the accused were later taken to the magistrate, CI A Anoop said.
