THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Type One diabetes medicines will be sent directly to children, said Health Minister K K Shailaja. The government is planning to supply medicines through district hospitals and primary health centres. The children are left with no medicines following the announcement of the lockdown. Treatment for nearly 3,000 children with Type One diabetes in the state will no longer be disrupted. Medicines will be supplied through primary health centres in Thrissur and Palakkad districts and in Kannur and Kasargod districts via Pariyaram Medical College. Medicines for children in Malappuram will be made available at Perinthalmanna district hospital.
Health workers will supply medicines for children in other districts. Presently medicines are supplied through Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Thrissur and Kozhikode medical colleges. The children were left with no medicines following the lockdown.
