NEW DELHI: As many as 266 IAS officers across the country have raised concerns about the inadequate health infra in various districts to combat the spread of novel coronavirus. In a survey conducted by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, majority of IAS officers have pointed out the shortage of medical staff, lack of facilities such as ventilators, oxygen cylinders, ICU beds and ambulances at the district level. The survey report also states that there is a shortage of PPEs (personal protective equipment) such as masks, gloves etc. The survey was conducted between March 25 and March 30.
Several officers have also demanded the establishment of more testing centres and isolation wards at the district level. Taking into account the migrant movement in several parts of the country, they have also recommended the introduction of standard operating procedures and guidelines for interstate movement of people across borders
