THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Friday in a TV address to the nation had asked the people of India to switch off all lights at home on April 5 and light diyas, candles, torch lights or mobile torch lights on April at 9 pm for 9 minutes to ward off the darkness of Coronavirus. This has invited criticism as well as appreciation from various quarters but Kerala Minister V S Sunil Kumar has said Kerala will take up the call of the prime minister.

“There is no need for seeing politics in the prime minister’s call. Modi’s was the call for unity. During the lockdown everybody is sitting isolated at their homes. Yet, the prime minister has conveyed the message that the nation is united in its fight against Coronavirus. Through this we can show the world that the entire nation in lining up against Corona,” he said.

Meanwhile, the prime minister’s call was criticised by Congress leader P Chidambaram and Shashi Tharoor.
