KASARGOD: Two more people from Kasargod district died on Sunday after they were denied access to hospitals in Manguluru by Karnataka police at the Kerala-Karnataka border. Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has said that the border between the two states will remain closed in order to ensure the safety of the people of Karnataka.

The deceased were identified as Hosangadi native Rudrappa (52) and Manjeshwaram native Yusuf (57). Rudrappa, a heart patient who was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru, was being taken to the hospital when the Karanataka police denied access to the ambulance. Following this, he was rushed to a hospital in Uppala. However, he was soon pronounced dead.

Yusuf was also being rushed to a hospital in Managaluru when the police denied access to Mangaluru. Following this, he was taken to a hospital in Kasargod but the doctors were unable to save his life.

It must be noted that a total of nine people have lost their lives as a result of not receiving timely medical care due to the blockade.
