NEW DELHI: Kerala informed the Supreme Court that the act of Karnataka not facilitating movement of vehicles carrying the sick to Manguluru is violation of fundamental rights. The centre is not even ready to execute the court order, blamed Kerala. In the counter affidavit filed, Kerala has requested to reject the plea filed by Karnataka Government on the issue.

The Supreme Court did not stay the directive of the Kerala High Court to the centre asking to open the Kasargod-Manguluru national highway. The apex court directed the chief secretaries of Kerala and Karnataka and the secretaries of union health ministry and transport ministry to hold talks and find a solution.

The Supreme Court had not asked Karnataka to open the border. The Supreme Court’s direction was on the plea of Karnataka against the order of the Kerala High Court. While not staying the order of the division bench of the Kerala High Court, the court had mentioned that movement of vehicles carrying essential items should be facilitated.

A committee should be set up to decide on which all vehicles should be permitted to leave. The apex court had directed to form a panel consisting of the chief secretaries of two states and the union health secretary. The case will be considered again tomorrow.
