lockdown

KOCHI: Minister V S Sunil Kumar has said matters regarding the extension of lockdown will be discussed in the Cabinet meeting tomorrow.
He was speaking to media persons in Kochi.

More states had come forward today, seeking to extend the lockdown in the country. They are Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

These states fear for community transmission as more and more positive cases are being reported day by day.

They presume that immediate withdrawal of lockdown will affect protective measures against the Corona virus. It was under this circumstances that the states requested for the extension of lockdown or at least virtual lockdown even after April 14, the day when the lockdown is to end.

Meanwhile, Health Minister K K Sailaja has said, certain restrictions will continue in Kerala even if the lockdown ends. People won’t be allowed to go out according to their whims and fancies. There should be more alert as more NRIs will be coming to Kerala. Cautionary measures will continue.

“ As of now, there is no chance for the disruption of life-saving drugs. If anyone faces any difficulty, he can approach primary health centres,” the minister added.
