WASHINGTON: The global death toll from coronavirus has jumped to 95,722 as of Friday morning. Almost 80,000 fresh cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.

The situation in the US is getting worse day by day. 1819 people have died yesterday alone. With this, the total number of deaths has reached 16,691. President Donald Trump has asserted last week that there is not as much death as he feared and control on the disease is on the right track. The number of patients has crossed 450,000. Emergency temporary hospitals have been opened in New York's Central Park and other areas amid the increasing number of patients.

1,53,222 have been infected in Spain. Almost 700 died in the country the other day. With this, the total deaths touched 15,447. The number of patients is rising in Italy and France. In Italy, the number of people affected by the disease rose to 1,43,626. 18,279 people have died in the country. In France alone, 1341 people died yesterday. With this the death toll has risen to 12,210.

Meantime, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson left intensive care, where he had spent the three previous days for treatment against coronavirus. He has been moved from intensive care back to the ward, where he will receive close monitoring during the early phase of his recovery.

Besides, it has infected 16, 03,719 people around the world after the highly contagious disease was first reported in China in December last year.

Of them, 1,151,342 are currently being treated with 48,079 being in serious or critical condition.

So far, 356,655 people have recovered.

The World Health Organization declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
