ERNAKULAM: The centre has asked Kannan Gopinath, who resigned from the civil service, to re-join duty as an IAS officer. He was asked to re-join as part of taking measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Kannan Gopinathan has informed that he will be part of preventive measures but as a free and responsible citizen and not anymore as an IAS officer.
He tweeted along with the government order. Kannan resigned in August 2019 citing lack of freedom of expression. However, the centre did not consider his resignation. He was taken into police custody for participating in the agitation against the Citizenship Act.
