THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to the list released by National Health Mission, the first twelve best Primary Health Centres of India are in Kerala. Health Minister KK Shailaja said that three more hospitals in the state obtained the National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) certification.

The health minister said this honour which came at a time when we are fighting against coronavirus. It would encourage health workers, she said.

The new hospitals to obtain NQAS honour are Thiruvananthapuram Kallikkad New Primary Health Centre with 95 percent score, Kalladikode Family Health Centre with 94 percent and Thrissur Nenmanikkara Family Health Centre with 93 percent score.

Ottasekharamangalam Poozhanad Family health centre in Thiruvananthapuram scored 99 percent points and topped the list recently. Last year, Kayyur Family Health Centre in Kasaragod secured first place with 99 percent points.


In district hospitals, Kottamparamaba W and C hospital Kozhikode scored 96 percent and became first in India. In case of sub district hospitals, Taluk Hospital Chalakudy topped the list with 98.7 percent score. Kannur became the first district in India to have 12 institutions that secured the NQAS certification.

So far, 64 institutions in Kerala has obtained NQAS certification. The PHCs obtaining NQAS honour will receive Rs 2 lakhs and other hospitals will get Rs 10,000 per bed annually.
