NEW DELHI: The Central Government on Saturday said that those NRIs who are stranded in the Gulf countries cannot be brought back to India during the nationwide lockdown.
According to sources, the Indian external affairs ministry has stated that at this stage, it is not possible to let any flights come in. The ministry has apparently informed this to India's Ambassador to the UAE. However, the ministry further added that the Indian embassies will take necessary action to ensure the safety of Indians stranded in foreign nations.
Earlier, UAE's ambassador to India Ahmed Al Banna had said that the government of UAE had decided to help all countries fly their citizens home after the completion of the necessary medical tests.
