KOTTAYAM: One more Malayali died abroad of COVID-19. He has been identified as Dr Ameerudeen (73) hailing from Mundathanam in Kangazha at Kottayam. The doctor was a permanent resident of Burmingham in the UK. He was under treatment for the past three weeks after contracting the disease. He was in the ventilator. He was leading a retired life with his family after retiring from the NHS. He was the sixth Keralite to die of COVID in the UK.
He was the son of late Dr Meeran Rawther. Ameerudeen leaves behind his wife Dr Hazeena hailing from Kollam and children Dr Nebil and Nadeem. Dr Saleem (Canada) and Shamziya are his siblings.
Dr Meeran Rawther Memorial started in the capital city in his father’s name are providing free food and accommodation for hundreds of patients coming for treatment.
