NEW DELHI: The centre had announced lockdown in the country as a preventive measure against the outbreak of COVID-19. The lockdown announced on March 24 was to end on April 14. A decision on the lockdown was taken at the videoconference held by a team led by the Prime and chief ministers of the state.

The Prime Minister once again suggested that social distance should be maintained. Though the lockdown is facing financial challenge, in some areas it has been relaxed. In the meantime, the government is planning to classify areas affected by COVID-19 into three areas. As a preventive measure against the pandemic, a decision has been taken to classify it into red, orange and green.

Red Zone: The areas most affected by COVID-19 will be classified as red zone. These areas were declared as hotspot.

Orange zone: Places not severely affected, areas presently free of the disease will be classified as orange zones. Regulated public transport and cultivation allowed here.

Green zone: Places least affected will be categorized as green zone. Restrictions in these areas are relaxed. However social distance is a must.

The states will be classified accordingly. The country is facing a severe financial crisis soon after the announcement of the lockdown. COVID-19 is spreading in major cities like Mumbai and Chennai in the country.
