corona-lockdown

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the State government has allowed certain concessions on lockdown, more groups of people have started appearing on roads, making use of the opportunity.

Some were seen roaming around, saying that they were going to either repair or recharge their mobile phones. Mobile shops yesterday witnessed comparatively thick crowds as mobile shops are allowed to work on Sundays. For people, shut up in their homes, social media has been the only respite.

Meanwhile, out of fear of the situation spinning out of control, the government has asked the police to intensify vehicle checking on all places. As part of this, the police seized 512 vehicles from different parts of the state.

Drone surveillance and bike patrolling will also be intensified. The State police chief has given instruction to initiate strong action against people crowding in a place and travelling in their vehicles without wearing mask and affidavit.

The police have also been asked to intensify examinations in Covid hotspots and to ensure that people follow safety guidelines including social distancing.
