THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The presence of Coronavirus has been detected in two types of bats found in four states, claims a study report presented by Indian council of Medical Research (ICMR).
The virus was detected in the test conducted in Rousettus/Pteropus bats found in Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Puthucherry and Tamil Nadu, say the report. The samples tested where collected from Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat, Odisha, Punjab, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil, Chandigarh and Puthucerry Nadu during 2018-19 period.
The samples for testing were taken from the throat and rectum of the bats.
12 out of 217 fluid samples taken from Pteropusbats’ rectum and four out of 42 fluid samples taken from the rectum of Rousettus bats tested positive.
