KASARGOD: Karnataka government now claims that no Covid positive cases have been reported from South Kannada-Udupi districts over the past 11 days and the main reason for this is the shutting of its borders with Kerala.

“If we had not blocked people including patients from Kerala, number of patients here would have increased,” says the report prepared by South Kannada DMO. Currently, Karnataka denies treatment to all patients from Kerala. Out of the 12 positive cases in Mangaluru, just three are under treatment. All others have been discharged.

In Udupi, till date, just three Coivd positive cases have been reported.. Out of them, two got discharged the other day. The Karnataka health department officials said that closing of borders helped the state to arrest the transmission of Coronavirus.

“Most entry points to the Udupi district have been blocked with mounds. As the NH road at Thalapady was closed, the entry of patients from Kerala could also be blocked,” they added.
