NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader A K Antony has written to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, seeking to announce moratorium for higher education loans interest-free for one year.
He also demanded that students studying abroad be sanctioned small interest-free loans through respective embassies.
“In India and abroad, there are no chances for big job opportunities now. This situation also should be foreseen.
A majority of students studying abroad are doing part-time jobs to balance the expenses for studies and living. Now, their income have stopped.
Moreover, exchange rate is also creating anxiety among them. Therefore, allow them small interest-free loans via the embassies in their respective countries…” he added.
