THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said that Kerala is ready to quarantine 2 lakh expats if the central government chooses to bring back those expats who are stranded in various parts of the world. Speaking at the press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, the chief minister added that state has also prepared a plan so that it can provide shelter to even more expats in case if they chose to return to the state.

If the Centre arranges special flights to bring back the expats, high priority will be given to elder people, pregnant women and other people suffering from various diseases except COVID 19. Once the expats reach the state, it will be the responsibility of the state government to place them in quarantine. While expressing hope that the central government will take appropriate measures to fly back the expatriates, the CM urged the NRIs to remain wherever they are until the government takes necessary measures.
