KOTTAYAM: A native of Kadanad in Pala confirmed of COVID-19 has been shifted to Kottayam Medical College. The 65-year-old woman from Australia reached Delhi on March 20. She was placed under isolation for 14 days and after that she reached her native place on April 16 travelling through seven states by road. The police stopped her here and was placed under isolation at a COVID centre in Idukki. She was confirmed of the virus in a test conducted here.

She was shifted to Kottayam Medical College early Thursday morning at 1.30 am. She was shifted to KMC considering the demands of her relatives. The first test results of her 71-year-old husband is negative. The couple who reached Delhi from Melbourne with the help of a cop reached Kambammettu in a taxi. The driver was asked to go quarantine but left for Delhi on the same day itself. Their journey through seven states to Kambammedu when the country was in complete lockdown is really a mystery.

KMC has again been placed in the list of COVID victims with the admission of this woman from Australia. She was brought to the hospital from Nedumkandam in Idukki in an ambulance of the health department Thursday early morning. Her husband has not contracted the disease, but has been placed under quarantine in their house.

They travelled for three days and then reached Kambammettu. Bread and water were their food during their journey. They told police and health department that they did not come into contact with anyone while staying in Delhi and while travelling.
