KOZHIKODE: A four-month-old baby under treatment for COVID-19 in Manjeri died at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The health department confirmed the baby’s death at 8 am Friday morning. The baby had congenital heart disease. Authorities of the health department said the baby identified as Naiha Fathima died of cardiac arrest. The baby diagnosed with severe pneumonia was in a serious condition.

The baby was born to natives of Payyanad in Manjeri. It is not clear from where the baby contracted the disease. The baby was admitted at a private hospital in Manjeri on April 17 following breathlessness. The baby was shifted to another private hospital in Manjeri after diagnosing pneumonia. From there the baby was taken to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital on April 21 after an epileptic seizure.

The baby had cardiovascular disease and was underweight also. The baby’s relative had tested positive of the virus. It is suspected that the baby may have contracted the disease from him. However, it has not been confirmed yet. The baby’s parents said that this relative had not seen the baby. The baby was not taken out.
