KOCHI: The Kerala High Court said that in the wake of COVID-19, cannot direct the centre to fly back expats to the state. The high court said such a directive cannot be proposed to the centre during the nationwide lockdown. The court made the remark while considering the plea of KMCC seeking to fly them back to the state.

The court asked the government whether they have made arrangements if they are brought back.

When the petitioner pointed out that other countries are taking expatriates back to their countries, the court immediately said ours is not the policy and law of other countries.

The centre’s lawyer informed the court yesterday that only Kerala is so desperate to fly the expats back. The plea was heard via video conference.

The plea will be considered again on May 2.
