THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have decided to keep a close watch on Kerala borders as people who are sneaking into Kerala from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, violating lockdown protocol, have increased over the past few days.
The police have now decided to close even alleys and small connecting roads that gave easy access to Kerala.
The observation using drones will begin on Friday.
The government has given instruction for this as the number of Coronavirus transmission in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are more and if more people are allowed to come to Kerala, the health of people here will be put at risk. Hence, the checking will be intensified from today.
Most of the drones, now being used to check violation in inside area, will now hover over border areas. All goods vehicles will be waved down and checked at borders. Nobody will be allowed to cross border in the vehicles except the driver and a helper.
The decision is to allow entry only those seeking emergency medical service, pregnant women ad those coming to attend the funeral of their kin.
The DGP has also given instruction to the policemen to concentrate more on border areas.
