THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police Association have come out against the decision of the government to deduct 30 days’ salary of government employees in six instalments over five months.
It has made a request to deduct only 15 day’s salary.
The association has made this request at a time when there is State-wide request not to deduct the salary of health workers and policemen involved in Covid-related services.
But the chief minister on Friday said at the evening press meet that the government was not deducting but putting aside a portion of the salary of employees temporarily and it won’t be able to exclude any section from this arrangement.
The decision is to withhold the salary of six days every month and this process will continue for five months. The government had clarified that the withheld amount would be returned once the financial condition of the State improved.
The police association, meanwhile, has requested the government to avoid EPS recovery and PF Loan recovery during the months when the salary will be deducted. It has sent a letter to the chief minister in this regard.
