lockdown

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said that triple lockdown will be imposed in COVID-19 hotspots in the state. Speaking at the press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, the chief minister said that the triple lockdown will be implemented in all hotspots within the districts that have been designated as red zones.

While stating that stringent restrictions will be in place in these hotspots, the CM added that hotspots outside the red zones will also experience a tightening of restrictions. All such hotspots will be sealed and entry to these hotspots will be permitted only through one route. Higher police officials will conduct checking in these regions.

The CM also added that the checking at the borders will be intensified as Tamil Nadu is about to enforce a strict lockdown for 60 hours from Sunday onwards. While speaking about Tamil Nadu's statement that it will not allow any vehicles to cross the border, the CM added that it is unclear whether vehicles transporting goods will also be stopped at the border.
