THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is presently no community transmission of COVID-19 in Kerala and chances cannot be ruled out, said Health Minister K K Shailaja. Health workers contracting the disease is not a worry, she said. Special care must be taken on COVID-19. In Kerala, the test is scientific and conducted on priority basis. Kerala's method has proved to be right. There is a shortage of RNA test kits in Kerala. The state has decided to conduct more testing, the minister said.
With the increase in the number of COVID patients, it is unclear from where the virus is spreading and this led to the suspicion of a community transmission. The health department has so far not been able to confirm how the ten people in Kerala contracted the disease in the past one week. It has not been found how more than 25 people got infected.
The reason for the disease of 25 including the death of the baby born to natives of Malappuram, a cop in Pothencode, a native of Mahe who sought treatment in Kannur, is not clear. Random tests on only a few people in selected groups have raised concerns after one each in Kollam and Kottayam have been found to be infected.
