THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has recommended for the extension of nationwide lockdown for two more weeks. Expressing concerns about the increasing number of positive cases among health workers, the association urged for COVID-19 testing in the private sector. The IMA also stated that NRIs should not be allowed to return to their homes even if they do not show any symptoms.
Earlier on Monday, the Prime Minister had stated that lockdown may be extended in regions that are severely affected by the coronavirus. The Prime Minister made the statement during a meeting with state chief minister through video conference.
