AJMAN: A three-year-old expat believed to be the youngest COVID-19 patient in the UAE has recovered from the disease.

Nivediya, daughter of Geetu and Shyam, was being treated at Amina Hospital in Ajman. Her parents were also treated for COVID-19 at the hospital. Nivediya's five-year-old sister Navami had tested negative for coronavirus.

According to Dr Jenny John Cheriathu, a specialist pediatrician and treating physician, Nivediya was able to recover quickly as her body reacted to medicines quickly due to age.

The child’s mother Geetu initially developed the disease while working as a frontline worker at Anglo Arabian Healthcare Northern Emirates. Her daughter Nivediya and her husband Shyam contracted the virus, and they were all admitted to the hospital for isolation and treatment.

The girl's parents sought treatment at a hospital following fever, cough and headache. They also developed pneumonia from COVID-19, but doctors said early detection helped speed up their recovery process.
