THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state has reported 10 new COVID-19 positive cases on Wednesday. A journalist in Kasaragod has also contracted the disease. Among the new cases, six are in Kollam and two each in Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod. Three health workers are also among today's positive cases. Including today's toll, the state confirmed 495 COVID-19 positive cases.

10 patients have recovered from the disease today-three each in Kannur, Kozhikode, Kasaragod and one in Pathanamthitta.

In Kollam, five developed the disease through contact. One came from Andhra Pradesh. In Thiruvananthapuram, one came from Tamil Nadu. Two cases in Kasaragod contracted the virus through contact.

So far, 24,952 samples were sent to labs for testing. Results of 23,880 returned negative for coronavirus. Results of 25 samples, including the three sent for re-testing, is yet to come.

Vandiperiyar in Idukki and Ajanoor Panchayats in Kasaragod have been declared as hotspots. 102 places have been declared as hotspots so far.
