THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following reports of two Covid cases at Neyyattinkara in Thiruvananthapuram on Wenesday, the police have intensified restrictions in this area.

Nine policemen who were on duty at this place have been put under observation. This was done as they had come into contact with the patients’ close relatives.

Ten corporation wards and four panchayats in Neyyattinkara have been declared hotspots.

At Neyyattinkara, 1 to 5 wards and 40 to 44 wards are currently hotspots. These wards lie in Balaramapuram, Parassala, Kunnathukal and Vellarada panchayats.

Both Covid patients had been admitted to the isolation wards of NIMS at the same time. The source of infection in them is yet to be traced.

It was a Neyyattinkara native and Kanyakumari native who were tested positive in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. 29 persons in Parassala hospital, 14 persons in Rollands hospital and 45 persons in NIMS hospital have been put under observation.
