NEW DELHI: As the nationwide lockdown has been extended for two more weeks, the central government is considering to announce a second dose of relief measures for the segment and a stimulus package for India Inc shortly, sources said.


Chief Economic Adviser Krishnamurthy V Subramanian said that the second ecoomic package would focus on rural economy, informal sector, MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) and those big industries that would have a rippling impact on the three.


It must be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had held discussions with Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman regarding this.


It is learnt that the prime minister has reviewed trade, commerce, coal and mining, defence, aviation, power, agriculture, and the education sectors through a series of meetings.


Modi has also reportedly chaired a meeting on strengthening the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) which plays a crucial role in economic development.


Sources further added that Modi has discussed ways to support farmers, enhance liquidity and strengthen credit flows.
