THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has issued a new set of guidelines keeping in mind the extension of the lockdown by two more weeks. The new guidance has clarified the lockdown relaxations. The new guidance of the government emphasizes the importance of relaxations focusing green zones. Meantime, strict control on hot spots will continue. The stand of the government is not to allow public transportation in any zones.

The new guidance released by the chief secretary has clarified that liquor shops, malls and barber shops will not be opened. It has also mentioned that there will be only two people in private vehicles besides the driver. Educational institutions will not be permitted to reopen. It should be opened only for conducting exams. Firms under the service sector of green zones should be opened only thrice a week and that too only with 50% of employees.

The state is also proposing clear guidelines on the return of expatriates. There will be strict examination at the airports. They will be able to go home only if they don’t have any symptoms. Isolation at homes is mandatory. If anyone is sick at home they should shift to government special centre. They can stay in hotels at their own expense. Quarantine is mandatory there also. The guidelines also mention that the police must ensure that those arriving from abroad are under surveillance.
