THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Another day of relief for Kerala as the state reported no fresh COVID-19 positive cases on Monday. 61 patients were cured of the disease today, the highest tally for the number of recoveries in a single day in the state, CM Pinarayi Vijayan told the media here.

At present, only 34 patients are under treatment for coronavirus at hospitals in Kerala.

This is the second consecutive day in the state with zero positive coronavirus cases reported. There were no positive COVID-19 cases in Kerala on May 1 as well. No new hotspots were declared in the state on Monday.

As of Monday, there are 21,724 persons under observation in the state including 372 at hospitals. Samples of 33,010 persons were sent to labs for testing, and results of 32,315 persons returned negative.

1,64,263 Malayalis in several districts register via NORKA to return to Kerala. The highest number of registrations are in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. Stranded persons still have the chance to register on NORKA.

The CM added that 13518 migrant workers in Kerala returned to their states.
