KANNUR: Who’s Kerala chief minister? – the question is that of Chembilode Panchayat President to a group of migrant labourers.
It was during their send-off, a class of sorts was taken for them, breaching Covid 19 protocol.

Without following social distancing some instructions and advice were given to the group comprising more than 70 migrant labourers.

The panchayat president’s call was that the labourers should tell everyone after reaching their home state that it was Pinarayi Vijayan who made all arrangements including trains service for returning home.

The video of the meeting held ‘unlawfully’ is already being widely circulated on social media.

Despite the issue triggering controversy, the president tried to justify what she said.

President T V Lakshmy can be heard saying, the train was allotted only because the chief minister put pressure on the Centre. She asks the labourers to say aloud the chief minister’s name. One person is also standing there, translating her speech.

Now, the Congress and BJP leadership are planning to lodge a complaint in this regard to district police chief. CPM local leaders had also taken part in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the president’s argument is that panchayat has the right to hold meetings during the lockdown.
