ERNAKULAM: A petition has been filed in the high court, seeking the cancellation of Salary Ordinance brought out by the State government.

The petition has been filed by an NGO Association and NGO group.

The Ordinance gave the government authority to deduct 25 % of the salaries of Govt staff, teachers and public sector employees once a calamity or health emergency is announced.

The petition was signed by the governor himself last month.

Within six months, the government will clarify when the amount should be paid back.

The governor had approved the audience without asking for the government’s explanation or seeking legal advice.
