NEW DELHI: Flights carrying Indians who are stranded in various countries will reach the country from Thursday onwards. Kerala will receive four flights on Thursday, from UAE and one each from Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
It is learnt that a total of 64 flights have been arranged to fly back the expats to various Indian states 15 of them will ferry expats to Kerala. According to the Civil Aviation Ministry, 14,800 Indians living in 12 countries will be flown back from May 7 to May 13. The twelve countries are UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Malaysia, USA, UK, Singapore, Philipines and Bangladesh. However, the move is yet to receive approval from the External Affairs Ministry and the Defence Ministry. Reports also claim that the expats will also be brought back using ships.
Priority will be given to people who have lost their jobs, elder citizens and pregnant women. All the expats who wish to be transported to India have been asked to register themselves in the respective embassies.
These are the list of flights scheduled to Kerala:
May 7: Abu Dhabi-Kochi, Dubai-Kozhikode, Riyad-Kozhikode and Doha-Kochi.
May 8: Bahrain- Kochi.
May 9: Oman-Kochi and Kuwait-Kochi
May 10: Doha-Thiruvananthapuram and Singapore-Kochi
May 11: Damam-Kochi, Mamama-Kozhikode and Dubai-Kochi.
May 12: Kuala Lumpur-Kochi
May 13: Kuwait-Kozhikode and Jeddah-Kochi.
